Book Sonic Alchemy
Sonic Alchemy has now released 33 new original songs via 2 full length albums, many singles and EP's. Featuring two albums: 11 original song CD album titled, Ethereal and 6 song, Quintessential. Steve Johnston (vocals, guitars, percussion, songwriter) has written some musically diverse songs that the explore a very diverse musical landscape that is a hallmark of Sonic Alchemy. From hard rocking alternative, classic, psychedelic, shoegaze, to acoustic songs and garage rock songs, the Singles, EP's and album named Ethereal and Quintessential (acoustic focused album) nail several musical genres. They reflect the musicians' varied influences and roots. All of the new EP/Singles feature Steve Johnston on all electric/acoustic rhythm and lead guitars, vocals and all percussion and guest musicians: Michael Mahan (Spectacle) on bass and Greg Wilson (Galleries) on drums, as well as other guest musicians on drums/vocals. The new album, Quintessential is a re-working of Ethereal and is an unplugged version of popular songs from that album. Steve re-recorded instruments and added acoustic solos and then remixed the album subtracting electric instrumentation to produce an excellent result.
Steve is working and collaborating on his next releases with music artists from around the world. Artificial Intelligence is his latest work highlighting a rock lyrics and Indian music fusion from his 1960's influences. Infinite Repeat a song about the low compensation of Spotify, features a version with a female music artist from Urugay.
The lyrics are grounded in rock and roll yet poetic and poignant. All the songs are expertly made and recorded at high quality studios. The music is produced, recorded, and mixed by Steve Johnston, Michael Mahan (of the band Spectacle) and Jamie Hillyer. The collection of work is sure to make an impact on the rock and roll scene.
Sonic Alchemy play originals and covers live. Alternative, Indie, Grunge, and originals pepper the eclectic and musically intriguing set list. The band also hosts excellent guest vocalists and other musicians to keep the music dynamic, fluid and ever-changing. Just like a box of chocolates spiked with tequila, you don't really know what is going to be served up...but it's going to be a musical journey and it will be sweet.
Steve Johnston will be releasing a plethora of new music in the first 4 months of 2024- stay tuned.

THE BAND
Sonic Alchemy (formerly known as The Alchemists) was born in Denver, Colorado back in 2014 under the direction of Steve Johnston.
Steve’s intent was to create a project that would fulfill a dream of a original/cover band that played something edgier and different than the deluge of bands playing classic rock. Scouring social meet up groups and networking for talent, he was able to build an open-minded arrangement of very capable and professional musicians from diverse music backgrounds. He used all his musical and production skills to create Sonic Alchemy's new album: Ethereal.
